Video to Audio Extractor & Trimmer

Extract and trim audio tracks from MP4, MOV, and WebM videos locally in your browser. Export uncompressed 16-bit PCM WAV or preserve original audio quality via M4A/WebM stream copy.

Method and assumptions

Input video files are demuxed via Mediabunny's BlobSource with the video track discarded (video: { discard: true }). When WAV is selected, decoded audio samples are written as uncompressed 16-bit PCM into a RIFF WAVE container. When M4A or WebM Audio is selected, the engine prefers lossless stream-copy of the native audio packets within the [start, end] range, falling back to WebCodecs AAC or Opus encoding when container transcoding is required.

Common mistakes and edge cases

If the source video is muted or contains no audio track, the tool immediately reports that no audio stream is present rather than generating an empty file.

How to use

  1. Drop an MP4, MOV, or WebM video with an audio track into the workspace (or load the 3-second sample clip).
  2. Select WAV (.wav), M4A / AAC (.m4a), or WebM Audio (.webm).
  3. Set your Start time and End time in seconds to extract either the full track or a trimmed range.
  4. Click Extract audio, listen in the built-in audio player, and click Download.

Example

Load a 3-second video with audio, set Start time to 0.5s and End time to 2.5s, choose WAV or M4A, and download the 2.0-second audio track.

Frequently asked questions

Does extracting to M4A or WebM re-encode the audio?
When 'Prefer lossless audio stream copy' is enabled and the source video's audio codec is compatible with the target container, packets are remuxed directly without re-encoding.
What happens if a video has no audio track?
The tool inspects the container tracks immediately upon load and displays a clear notice if no audio stream is present.
