Method and assumptions

Interactive PDF AcroForm widgets (PDFTextField, PDFCheckBox, PDFDropdown, PDFOptionList, PDFRadioGroup) are inspected and updated in memory via pdf-lib. When 'Flatten form fields on export' is enabled, form.flatten() bakes widget appearance streams into static page content so values cannot be casually edited. Visual signatures (typed onto an HTML5 canvas, drawn on the pointer pad, or uploaded as a PNG) are embedded as transparent PNG objects at your specified page coordinates.

Common mistakes and edge cases

This tool applies a visible electronic signature appearance rather than a cryptographic X.509 / PKCS#7 digital certificate signature. Proprietary Adobe XFA XML forms and password-encrypted documents are not supported by standard AcroForm parsers.

How to use

Drop a PDF form into the workspace (or click 'Load interactive sample PDF form').
Edit any detected AcroForm text fields, checkboxes, or dropdown menus.
Choose Type, Draw, or Upload signature, set the page coordinates, and toggle 'Flatten form fields on export'.
Click Apply signature & form values and download the signed PDF.
