Method and assumptions

Target dimensions are computed from either an explicit pixel width and height or a percentage scale factor. In Cover mode, the source aspect ratio is compared against the target aspect ratio and cropped around the chosen anchor (center, top, bottom, left, or right) so the image fills the exact frame without distortion. In Fit Inside mode, dimensions are scaled proportionally within the bounding box. In Contain mode, the image is letterboxed inside the exact target dimensions using the specified padding color.

Common mistakes and edge cases

Upscaling low-resolution images increases pixel dimensions and file size but does not invent new optical detail. Canvas outputs exceeding 16.7 megapixels are proportionally clamped to stay within mobile browser memory limits.

How to use
